Ryan has worked on various web-based projects including a system for hosting personal web pages similar to Geocities and Xoom (1999), an entrepreneur-investor matching service, and a mobile short message service response system.

He has also worked with Dr. Berthe Choueiry at the Constraint Systems Laboratory of Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to develop a system for hiring and managing graduate teaching assistants in the department.

He is currently employed by the Center on Children, Families and the Law at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. There, he works on Answers4Families Project, the Nebraska Resource and Referral Service, and the UNL Web Developer Network.
